People only remember queer people of color exist when they see a white gay. All other times, we don’t exist or a cishet character of color is enough representation.
A show that is mostly people of color could have absolutely zero queer characters on it, and yall say nothing about it. But, let a show with mostly white people have one white gay on it, and suddenly everyone’s like: “Why it gotta be a white gay for? White gays are so boring”. Like are you kidding me? The show was mostly white to begin with and yall want a random gay of color to be on a mostly white show? But the lack of queer characters of color on a show that’s mostly of color doesn’t get this shame energy? KEEP IT.
